Vernissage Gallery is thrilled to present TORNIKE ABULADZE: ZESTAPONI FERROALLOY PLANT.
‘Passing by this place I thought that there was that strange place in what I was always interested and wanted to see.
Last August, with my video and drawing materials I entered into the factory area without any permission. The guard told me that I needed permission. I was given official permission for two weeks and afterwards they proceeded it for one week.
In the process of drawing I became friend with the people working there. They were very friendly towards me and often gave me good advices.
They gave me advice to see the process of molding the metal and the process of pouring out the liquid metal from the ovens at the same time. They showed me the old buildings, which are inactive now and no one entered there for many years. They moved giant excavators so that I could draw it in convenient and necessary context for me.
I think, that I partially conveyed the impression that I have received there.’
