Vernissage Gallery is thrilled to present Felix Varlamishvili (Varla): Works from Private Collections. An exhibition of an immigrant artist of unparalleled size in Georgia.
Gallery has put together never before seen works from private collections: canvases, works on paper and documentation of past exhibitions.
When looking at Varla’s paintings, you may feel as if you hear a lingering melancholy melody. The ambi ance is created by the motion propagated from one entranced figure standing aloof to another through a look or an action, which is in harmony with the rhyth mical succession of aptly arranged objects. The tune can be interpreted as expressive of the nostalgia of an artist living far away from his homeland. The more so that many scenes resemble the reminiscences taken from Georgia and transformed under the influence of various impressions.
