KETEVAN MAISURADZE

SOMEWHERE I HAVE NEVER BEEN

12.05-17.05.2026

Vernissage Gallery presents Ketevan Maisuradze ‘Somewhere I have never been’

‘I have never stood beneath the ‘the desert sky’, nor have I ever seen an ‘oasis’, an ‘Arab dancing woman’, or the biblical ‘Salome’, frozen in that moment before performing her fateful dance. All of this is a product of my imagination. Yet I am always interested in the viewer’s interpretation of my paintings, which often differs from my own, but is nevertheless unexpected and deeply engaging to hear.

I remember a young Arab boy who, upon seeing my painting ‘The Bedouin Hunter’, exclaimed: ‘That’s me! I am that Bedouin!’
