‘There are no objects in these works; there are only substances. The medium on which I paint consists of reused materials- paper shopping bags.

The flow of energy that accompanies these bags constitutes one of the substances of the works. This energy accompanies them from the moment they begin to grow as trees, through their cutting, and into their transformed existence in various places. When I find them and bring them into the studio, I momentarily arrest this flow of energy and, instead, attempt to breathe new life into them.

What is depicted on them are not objects representing scenes from real life. They convey only the state of my mind during the process of working on them. These works mark the point of intersection of different substances, where the energy of a living material- transformed once, and then again- encounters the subconscious energy that emerges in the act of creation.’
