        Achievements:

        1932        Worked at a group of poster painters at Tbilisi City Commetee.

 Started working as a scenographer at Kote Marjanishvili State Academic Drama Theatre.

 1933 - 1936       Scenographer at Rustaveli State Theatre.

 1936 - 1940       Scenographer at Tbilisi Opera and Ballet Theatre.

         1935 - 1937       Illustrated Shota Rustaveli’s ‘The Knight in the Panther’s Skin.’

 1938                 Started working as a teacher of drawing at Tbilisi State Academy of Arts.  

1941 - 1945       Part-time work (jointly with the Academy of Arts) at the town council during World War II (camouflage and protection of artworks in the city).

 1945                 Head of the department and acting professor for drawing faculty at Tbilisi State Academy of Arts.

 1948                 Directs scenographic workshop at the Tbilisi State Academy of Arts.

 Presidium member of Artists Union of Georgia and a chairman of the  graphic section.

 Approved as an associate professor in the drawing department by the Moscow supreme examination board.

 1952 - 1959       Rector of Tbilisi State Academy of Arts.

 1957       Professor of Tbilisi State Academy of Arts.

         1957 - 1961       After many years of work, he completed the iconic painted stage curtain (170 sq.m) for Tbilisi Opera and Ballet State 

         Theatre. It was destroyed in 1973 as a result of the fire in the theatre.

1934 - 1935       He created illustrations for William Shakespeare’s tragedies: ‘Macbeth;’ ‘King Lear;’ ‘Richard III;’ ‘Antonius and Cleopatra.’

1935 - 1937       He participated in the contest for the jubilee publication of Rustaveli’s ‘The Knight in the Panther’s Skin.’ His illustrations are distinguished by the most precise reference to the epoch and characters, the monumentality of artistic images. These series are kept at Tretyakov State Gallery, Moscow, Russia.

        1972                 Established ‘Creative Workshop of Graphics.’

1973                 On his initiative was founded a photo laboratory for the fixation of the monuments of art.

         Awards and Honors:

1946                 Honored Art Worker of Georian SSR.

A medal for ‘Labor Valance in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.’

1947, 1948        Laureate of Stalin Prize.

1958                 People’s Artist of Georgia.  

1975                 Ivane Javakhishvili Medal.

1976                 Laureate of Shota Rustaveli Prize.
