Important Events and Achievements:

1939   Participated in World War II.

1953   He was the organizer of autumn and summer exhibitions in Tbilisi. At the time, he initiated the tendency of converting attics of residential houses in Tbilisi into private artist studios. He was a director of the Artists House in Tbilisi for a short period.

1955   He was invited to the Academy of Arts. He became a professor of the studio on painting.

1991   He became Minister of Culture of Georgia.

Awards:

1957   Laureate of Moscow VI World Youths and Students International Festival.

1985   National Artist of Georgia.

1998   Laureate of Shota Rustaveli State Prize.
